55 miles, 3000 ft of climbing.
We started out going uphill today.
It was about 15 miles uphill followed by a very long downhill ride to Carson.
It was the miles between Carson and the bridge of the Gods that gave us "the willies" for the first time on the trip. No shoulders, heavy traffic, uphill into a strong headwind was nerve jangling, to say the least.
It cost us $1 to cross the Bridge of the Gods!
Here's our reward for reaching Oregon!
We met a couple from the San Diego area while we were standing in line for ice cream - they are also bicycle tourists, and may join us for the final part of our trip!
We're camped tonight about half way between Cascade Locks and Hood River.
We are just above US 84, a railroad... and the wind is constant. Not exactly the quiet camping we've been used to.
