Day 12 a Mt Ranier to Swift reservoir - one long day!

G74 miles, 4366 ft. UP!

We started out with a really sweet, gentle downhill... The shoulder was so wide and smooth, we could have donated a third to Nevada County, a third to Sonoma County and still have had plenty for Washington State!

Our map said no services for 74 miles, so we went grocery shopping...

Now our panniers are really full of food, plus extra water... And the climbing began. Fortunately, we were in the shade most of the time.

Glad I wasn't here for this.

We reached the top of the climb in time to view Mt. Saint Helens.

We had about 15 miles to go to reach  our camping spot... Fortunately, it was mostly downhill, so we made it by 6:30.

In time for a beer.

My observation for the day... Litter bugs drink cheap beer. I had plenty of time to check out the cans along the roadside...
