Day 5 - Mazama to Patero Hot and Dry!

58 miles, 1014 up.

We left early because we knew it was going to be a hot day. The predicted temps were over 100!
Rested and refreshed... Starting out.

We rolled along pretty easily because we were generally following the Methow river on its way to meet the Columbia. There are apple, peach, nectarine and pear orchards along the road and river. It's so refreshing to stop at a fruit stand as we get near to town at the end of a hot day.

The city of Pateros had a free Paddler / Peddler camp site where we stayed.

We skinn... I mean, bathed in the Columbia river. It felt so good! In the late afternoon, there were periodic high winds which would calm down to almost nothing... Strange, but we made sure everything was secured.
